Our Phlebotomy Training Specialists Orange County program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a highly trained Phlebotomy Technician.
What Skills Will You Learn?
At AHC, we pride ourselves on providing our students with a complete education in phlebotomy. Our program incorporates lectures, interactive presentations, skills labs, and simulations to give you a thorough understanding of the field. You will learn how to administer blood draws on patients, starting with practicing on manikin arms and eventually moving on to practicing different venipunctures on classmates during the laboratory portion of the class. Register for our IV certification class in Orange County.
In addition to practical training, our program covers medical terminology and anatomy as it pertains to phlebotomy. You will learn blood sampling procedures, laboratory safety, effective patient communication, and the proper methods to clean up spills to prevent infection.
The Phlebotomy Technician Training Program Includes:
Basic and Advanced Didactic Classroom Instruction
Our program includes 20 hours of basic didactic classroom instruction and 20 hours of advanced didactic classroom instruction. This provides a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge before beginning the hands-on lab work.
Practical, Hands-On Training
We provide practical, hands-on training over venipuncture practices and safety procedures, including additional open lab hours for more practice prior to assignment to externship and/or in preparation for job interviews.
40 Hour Externship
Once you successfully finish the classroom portion of the program, you will complete your training at one of our state-approved externship sites such as a hospital, physician’s office or patient service center. The schedule will vary dependent upon each site’s specific requirements, and specific locations and schedules are discussed during the enrollment process.
AHC’s Phlebotomy Program is approved by the California Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services, to teach both the Full and Advanced Phlebotomy Technician courses that lead to a CPT I license. Our program meets the state’s strict requirements for phlebotomy training.
AHC is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), which accredits only the Phlebotomy Technician I program. This accreditation ensures that our program is held to the highest standards of quality and excellence.
Upon program completion and externship, students may take the National Certified Exam (NCE) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Students who pass the NCE may apply for state licensure CPT1. Our program sets you up for success in obtaining national certification and state licensure.
